Graphics Beyond builds brand identity through wayfinding

The studio has developed innovative and responsive wayfinding strategies that visually and functionally leverage human behavioural patterns with the architectural context

Graphics Beyond is a unique design studio with a strong focus on wayfinding, signage and branded environments that connect people to places. Since its inception in 2002, the studio has worked with industry leaders in real estate along with acclaimed architects and other specialists on a broad mix of residential, commercial, retail, hospitality and institutional projects. “Our philosophy on wayfinding is rooted in a deep understanding of people, society and spaces. Signs are used as a means to self-navigate, gather information and make mental models of places. We use this information to carefully co-ordinate the allied disciplines of architecture, interiors, landscaping, lighting and brand communication to create a well-designed orientation to a place,” explains Baarish Vasant Date, head strategy, Graphics Beyond.

Over the years, Graphics Beyond has successfully developed innovative and responsive wayfinding strategies that visually and functionally leverage human behavioural patterns with the architectural context. Take for instance Golf Living, which is the USP of the Lodha Belmondo township in Pune. The master graphic of the club is a take-off from golf course contours with an earthy colour scheme. Club Belmondo – with extremely elegant interiors by Studio HBA – was complemented in an equally chic manner with signage being cut through and through in solid aluminium. The long and narrow corridors were addressed well with see-through signages.

Sofitel Hotel - another notable project in their portfolio - is a super premium destination in Mumbai, the flagship hotel of Accor Group. Graphics Beyond designed an elite sign program, in strict adherence to the macassar shade and their corporate guidelines. Working closely with the Accor team, the PMC and the principal interior design firm - Miaja design, the studio achieved a truly integrated scheme taking into account each substrate and custom designing the sign’s material and finishing accordingly.

With each project, Graphic Beyond’s design aesthetics complement the project's character and language and create a holistic and meaningful sensory experience.
