Maharaja of Design Kunaal Kyhaan brings spirituality to MDW2020

An immersive scenography designed by Kunaal Kyhaan and curated by Valentina Guidi Ottobri aims to reproduce Indian mythological tales and customs.

At Ventura Centrale’s Tunnel 129 in Milano, Indian artist Kunaal Kyhaan will present his first solo exhibit, Rytuals, inviting the visitors into an exotic universe filled with extraordinary stories. Kyhaan, winner of EDIDA India’s Designer of the Year 2019 will tell stories, myths, and customs rooted in Indian traditions and reinterpreted through his contemporary home decor brand, KOY, at Milan Design Week 2020.

Each piece in the exhibition reflects the essence of the spiritual dimension inspired by epic narrations, exploring tales that have been passed down over the generations.

KOY’s 2020 collection Triptych contains three universes symbolizing the three realms of divine existence - The Galaxy, The Earth, and The Celestial Rainbow - each exploring unique materials and iconic forms.

About Kunaal Kyhaan
Born in India and educated in New York at the Parsons School of Design, with past experience as an actor and the soul of a globetrotter, Kunaal Kyhaan is an artisan designer capable of blending the deeply spiritual traditions of India with an elegant, ultra-contemporary approach to design for an absolutely unique visual effect. His work is a continuous experiment, in which audacity of colour, ultramodern technology and the many diverse artisan traditions of India all unite in extreme purity of form.
