Impact of COVID-19 on architecture & design

Design leaders discussed the effects of the pandemic, how the field will evolve as a result of it, and their approach to it all

Architect and Interiors India recently hosted the second episode of its webinar series on Designing for a New World – Post COVID-19. After the success of its inaugural episode, this one brought together eminent leaders in the field, who spoke on the effects that COVID-19 has had and continues to have in the areas of architecture and design, including how they feel the field will evolve as a result of it. The intriguing discussion went on for an hour and a half, and saw an engaged audience tune in and participate through questions to the panel.

Our renowned panel consisted of:
Prem Nath, owner, Prem Nath & Associates
Kohelika Kohli, CEO and creative director, K2INDIA
Arunjot Singh Bhalla, managing director - India, RSP
Luca Majocchi, CEO, Nexion International
Khozema Chitalwala, principal architect, Designers Group

The panellists spoke candidly about the situation, but also offered an optimistic view, emphasising that it was important to remain positive. While they did point out that there were obvious challenges ahead, they also cautioned that a pessimistic view was not the answer. Offering practical solutions to tackle architectural and design challenges, they gave much-needed hope that the design community would emerge stronger from this situation.
