Legrand wins design award from VMRD for its first retail outlet in Kochi

Legrand India, a global leader in
electrical and digital building infrastructure, bagged the prestigious
VM&RD Retail Design Awards 2019. Legrand received the Merit II in the Home
Improvement Speciality Store Category for their first retail outlet- Legrand
Studio
in Kochi.

The studio is the experiential
centre cum studio/retail outlet that hosts all Legrand’s India group company
products for the residential, commercial, hospitality and industrial markets.
With an interactive product display and fully automated experience, Legrand
Studio provides visitors with a hands-on experience that can help them make an
informed choice from sections like home automation, user interface, energy
distribution, structured cabling, or cable management. The studio has been
designed by Juhie Gupta, founder & creative
director, Interrobang Creative.

Speaking on this milestone, Sameer Saxena, director- Marketing (Group),
Legrand India, said,“Legrand has innovative showrooms across the
world. When we started planning our first showroom in India, it was a very new
concept for India. But we were confident about this model, as we wanted to
create an experience for our customers like other home improvement categories.
The idea behind the Legrand Studio was to reach out to our customers with an
experiential and interactive narrative that is simple to comprehend. Through
the launch of Legrand Studio, we wished to bring our customers closer to the
brand and help them choose what they are seeking – and it makes us proud and
happy to be recognised for our work.”

Juhie Gupta, founder & creative director,
Interrobang Creative, said,
“The retail identity for the studio is based on a visual and experiential
interpretation of ‘Designeering’, which is intrinsic to the approach Legrand
takes towards product creation. A space inspired by Designeering was envisioned
to be a space of creation and action. We tried to achieve this with the use of
interactive display systems, from technically complex automated displays to
simple engaging furniture. One of the main challenges in the project was
breaking down the technically complex data into bite-sized nuggets that are
easy to understand. The humble display stud has been used in a repetitive grid
structure to give the space a distinctly recognisable visual identity, while at
the same time also adding a high level of flexibility in the display system.”

Legrand is among the world’s
leading electrical and digital building solution provider companies with a
global turnover of 5.5 billion Euros. The company enjoys leadership in premium
wiring devices as well as MCB in Indian market, along with good presence in home
automation, energy distribution, cable management and VDI business. The product
offerings by Legrand are widely used in the residential, commercial, industrial
and hospitality industries.
