Steelcase India enters Gujarat, partners with Alps Technologies – a Trio Elevators Group company

Steelcase, a global leader in office furniture and innovative workspace solutions, has just announced the extension of their growth plans in India with their presence in Ahmedabad. Developed in partnership with Alps Technologies Pvt Ltd, the new showroom at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, will strengthen Steelcase’s commitment to transform workspaces with user-centric business solutions through its wide range of products that will help in creating a sustainable and interconnected workspace for the growing businesses in the city. The expertise of both Steelcase and Alps will also facilitate a holistic approach to foster a higher level of employee engagement and enhance the company’s business performance.

The expansion in Gujarat, starting with Ahmedabad, is a step taken to establish a stronger footing in the growth of Tier II & III cities, which are becoming preferred office locations for a number of global and Indian corporates owing to economical real estate and government support. Being one of the most industrially developed states with increased FDI inflow and competitive infrastructure, Gujarat has been growing at the rate of 13.47% during 2011-12 to 2016-17 (according to ibef). The launch in Ahmedabad will further accelerate this growth by providing business comprehensive workspace research, latest trends and an in-depth knowledge quotient from around the globe to enable productive and profitable workspaces.

Speaking during the launch, Uli Gwinner, president, Steelcase Asia Pacific, said “Workspace dynamics in India are changing faster than ever before with an influx of a younger and more dynamic workforce that believes in working smarter, faster and more efficiently. Hence, it becomes important to imagine and prepare for human experiences at a place where people spend extensive hours awake, and need to be agile to function efficiently. With India emerging as one of the most promising economic hubs with a huge demand for employee centric solutions, it is important for us to capture this demand for new-age workspaces.”

Commenting on the development, Praveen Rawal, managing director, Steelcase India and South East Asia, said, “In Ahmedabad, the business climate and infrastructure is ideal for a brand driven by culture and innovation. Emerging as one of the fastest-developing cities with top businesses in the country, we believe Steelcase will help in introducing and supporting the new work demands of entrepreneurs. The aspiration to escalate in terms of building and creating better offices centred on employee productivity and well-being, poses a perfect opportunity to expand our operations and foster an agile workspace culture.”

On this new venture with Steelcase, Kriyang Patel, director, Alps, said, “With a bigger agenda of expanding in various cities within Gujarat, our joint synergies will contribute to help change the workspace landscape of Ahmedabad through Steelcase’s expertise and our extensive network of clients. We are sure our flagship company, Trio Elevators’ experience of operations as a market leader in the elevator business in Gujarat will steer us to success.  We are delighted to partner with Steelcase, and believe that this partnership will add immense value to build a valuable workspace culture, supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of the city.”
