Designing for a New World – Post Covid-19

Global stalwarts in the field deliberated on the changes they expect to see in terms of project design and execution, and the best way forward

Architect and Interiors India recently hosted the inaugural episode of its webinar series on Designing for a New World – Post Covid-19. The first webinar of the series was a stupendous success, and saw celebrated global design leaders discuss the current state of affairs and how they are handling the situation at their respective firms. They also outlined the path ahead for architecture & design practices and the industry as a whole, much to the delight of the audience that tuned in from various parts of the world to listen to this multi-country panel.

Our renowned panel was composed of:

Christoph Timm, associate director, SOM

James Law, founder & CEO, James Law Cybertecture Architects

Rafiq Azam, principal architect, Shattoto

Reza Kabul, president, ARK Studio Inc

The legendary architects spoke their mind, but even more importantly, they spoke from the heart. While highlighting the immediate and long-term challenges facing architects, they touched upon the most pressing issues that are affecting all stakeholders, whether it is construction activities being stalled, timelines and cash flows being impacted or the uncertainty around jobs. Aptly titled, ‘From Pandemonium to Profitability’, the webinar session was not all doom and gloom, as the experts gave their opinion on what needs to be done to get our house in order and design more efficient, meaningful and sustainable projects, as we look to the future. From the right use of technology to innovative design solutions, and from new-age materials to a renewed focus on ‘green’, the panellists covered it all during their insightful dialogue.
