The roots
The four pillars of Pentaspace Consultants have been influenced by the built-form, in one way or another. If Pragya Sanghavi was fascinated by structures and their construction, Gaurav Sanghavi was deeply moved by the enduring nature of certain architecture. And if Harsh Pote, whose family is in construction, was used to visiting sites and consultants at a young age, Bhakti Pote found herself being intrigued by the tranformation of a design on paper to an actual building when she visited her architect father’s office and sites.
The nurturing
While Gaurav and Bhakti have graduated from Academy of Architecture, Rachana Sansad, Pragya got her degree from IES College of Architecture, Mumbai, and Harsh from Mumbai University. The lessons they now bring to the table involve everything from the importance of team work, visualising and thinking in the correct way, and understanding scales and proportions. The team cites towering names as influencers: Frank Gehry, Zaha Hadid, Mies van der Rohe, Hafeez Contractor, Nilabh Nagar, Nitin Killawala, Hemoo Upadhyay and Mahesh Khanolkar.
The fruits
Design consultancy Pentaspace Consultants was established in 2007… and in ten short years, has built an impressive portfolio spanning industries like retail, hospitality, mass housing, industrial, commercial and residential housing, currently overseeing more than a 100 million sq-ft at varying stages of design and construction in the Indian real estate market. Following success in the architectural sphere, the consultancy expanded its realm to create an interior designing wing alongside a definitive research arm. While the architecture and interior design segments are steadily blossoming, the research department has been conceived to reinforce the company’s vision of providing holistic, integrated services to clients. The design philosophy lays emphasis on crucial elements such as vision, creativity, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Understanding human values and the human response to space, nature and light is integral to their work.
Accolades and recognition have followed hard work: AICA’s Best Architecture project: Residential Big category (2016); Best Architecture project: Public & Commercial category, Architectural ideas 2.0-FOAID (2015); IEDRA’s Fastest Growing Indian Company Excellence Award…
The turning points
The four pick out several projects as milestones and turning points in their journey thus far. Rainforest, a residential scheme at Andheri, makes it to the list for its scale, magnitude and being a highly contoured site; Aroha, a theme-based residential project in Mumbai, because conceptualisation and execution on a theme made it exciting; Carif, a commercial project at Andheri for the complexties revolving around its engineering while maintaining the architectural integrity; and Hindustan Times Press at Navi Mumbai, their very first institutional project for a Forbes 200 Asia company.
The destination
The people at Pentaspace Consultants are living their dream of making a difference to the end-users, and adding value through design… making their goal of leaving a mark in the real-estate sector and working on ground-breaking design ideas that much attainable.
