Rooshad’s early exposure to architecture and design when he accompanied his architect father to his office, set the foundation for his career choice.  Coupled with his mother being an interior design professional; his pursuit of his undergrad degree in Architecture at Cornell University and Master’s in Architecture at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University seem like a natural corollary. Spotting his natural talent, the universities presented him opportunities to work with renowned international architect Inaki Abalos and his work being exhibited in 2010, at the Venice Architecture Biennial as well as the Shanghai Expo. His roots were fortified working with Zaha Hadid Architects in London as part of the design team on projects like the Dubai Opera House and the Zoerkler Tower in Vienna, Austria.  Back to India in 2011, he set up practice working across the Far and Middle East. His creation of custom-made installations saw the innovative use of material and technique, for prestigious houses like Christian Louboutin. Shroff’s holistic approach is visible in Jaipur Modern, a celebration of Indian crafts right down to the packaging. The young architect has stamped his signature style, be it bulbs carved of a single piece of marble to deflect subtly patterned luminosity or the avant garde furniture rendered with embroidery and inlay work at Ambiente. Shroff’s current projects include Bhaane (brand of Anand Ahuja and Sonam Kapoor) in Bengaluru and Kunal Rawal, Kala Ghoda, in the retail category.
