The process of transforming intangibles — aspirations, preferences, hopes — into a tangible creation through architecture thrilled Rupana and Niroop Reddy when they established their practice NA Architects in 2002. It may be nearly two decades old, but the original thrill and energy still drives the practice. It is embodied in the firm’s design philosophy — bringing together light, space, materials, forms, function and environment, in a tailored manner appropriate to each client. Their projects, say the duo, are acts of bridging the gap between reality and vision — achieved in the right fashion because of “amazing clients” and proficient execution teams. Eschewing a signature style, the couple believes in ‘signature ability’ instead, which they define as the desire to step out of comfort zones in order to achieve something new. “We are always ready to challenge ourselves and aim at incorporating the latest ideas, concepts and technologies into the client’s requirements so that we are able to deliver our services in a collaborative, creative and open association with our clients,” they declare. A project that’s testing their capabilities — in a very positive manner — is The 360o — a 200m stand-alone tower with a floor plate of 13,000sq-ft and one apartment per floor. “We are very excited. And because it’s a single apartment per floor, we’re trying to put in a glass facade all around,” they enthuse.
