Nuru Karim, Founder & Principal Nudes

Nuru, who works in the cross-disciplinary sphere of art, architecture, and computational design, is a master’s in Architecture and Urban-ism from the Architectural Association (AADRL), London, and completed his undergraduate studies from KRVIA, Mumbai, and McGill University, Montreal. He was enriched by having worked for Zaha Hadid Architects on a plethora of institutional projects both in competition/ schematic design and design development stages. Nuru has been recognised for his work and has won several design awards, including a nomination for the Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2013 cycle. He has also recently won the World Architecture Community Awards. A seasoned architect, Nuru is also a TEDx speaker and has presented his work and research on national and international platforms. Nudes believes in collaborating with clients to create spaces that integrate people and place. The firm has a solid presence in mixed use, education, housing, retail, art, culture, healthcare, hospitality, corporate, religious, etc.
Nuru’s project, The Baori – Water well, explores alternate housing models for agrarian societies in India, while the Forest – a winning entry for an invited competition design for a school project in Pune, is based on the foundation of ‘learn, reuse, plant and play’.
