“Primarily, I am hoping for aesthetic appeal and functionality and, on closer inspection, the degree of innovation, technology, fluidity – but most importantly, an attention to detail. A client’s testimonial about the project would be great to read, along with the entries.
“My advice to the nominees would be: Value your work, but also respect another person’s work. There is an infinite amount of talent all around you. Look at your fellow nominees as teachers rather than competitors. While everyone cannot go home with an award, everyone should definitely go home with more knowledge than they came with.
“I try to look at every experience as a learning experience, and judging the entries will widen my horizons too. I hope to meet like-minded enthusiasts – be it the young forward thinkers that are at pace with our advancing technology or the veterans of design who resist its integration in our everyday lives! I am fortunate and grateful that my passion is my profession, so the line between personal and professional faded a long time ago!”

Driven by a passion for interior design, in 1996, Aakif Habib opened the doors of his own luxury interior design practice, Atelier Habib. His work was initially focused on the design of interiors, gradually extending to the luxury sector. He is engaged in cooperation with leading luxury labels across the globe and his portfolio includes palaces, luxury residences, signature villas, boutique hotels and super yachts for illustrious clientele throughout the Indian Subcontinent, Europe and the Middle East.
With an impressive career spanning over 20 years, Habib has become one of the most prolific talents in the international luxury design industry, and is recognised among the visionaries who have recalibrated the design landscape of the world. His projects are often showcased in design, décor and lifestyle publications globally. Habib was born and raised in Mumbai- India, and has also studied at The Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London.
