Steelcase dedicates an experience centre in Mumbai for the future of shared spaces in the office post COVID-19

The new showroom will exhibit shared spaces solutions that enable socialising and collaboration in the new office

Steelcase has announced the opening of its ancillary dealer showroom in Mumbai dedicated to the company’s marquee portfolio of ancillary applications. In partnership with Innovative Antares, the new showroom at Raghuvanshi Mills, Lower Parel, Mumbai, will exclusively house the globally renowned partner brands of Steelcase such as Designtex, Orangebox, Coalesse, Turnstone, m.a.d., Bolia and Grado.

Coming together in the workplace to socialise and collaborate will become the greatest purpose that the new office can fulfil. Keeping this trend in mind, Steelcase will provide more of the world’s best choices to organisations with a wide range of products and solutions that will help cater to the new and changing work preferences.

The coronavirus pandemic has altered lives and made business situations more complex than ever before, giving rise to new norms in working. Though people have been successful in getting some types of work done remotely and over video, a large section of the workforce is struggling with the generative work that creates new ideas and solves complex problems. After months of working apart, employees now say the main reason they want to return to the office is to be with other people, socialise and collaborate in ways that just aren’t possible remotely.

Welcoming Antares to the Steelcase family, Uli Gwinner, president, Steelcase Asia Pacific, said, “The sudden shift in workspace dynamics accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic has further propelled the importance of creating workspaces that are both employee centric as well as collaborative. At Steelcase, we’re striving to balance the need for such compelling spaces with the need for safety. In collaboration with Antares, we are delighted to bring the best of our partner products and solutions that support this vision.”

Explaining the significance of the initiative, Praveen Rawal, MD, India, SAARC, Design Applications APAC, said, “Businesses globally have witnessed some unprecedented challenges impacting the way we work; Mumbai being no different. As the financial hub of India and one of the most densely populated cities in the country, it was imperative to cater to the new working preferences of the city’s remote workers and office goers. Under our partnership with Antares, we are really excited to bring an exclusive, dedicated experience centre in Mumbai consisting of some of the most exciting partner brands. This marks an important milestone for Steelcase as we continue to remain invested in transforming workspaces in India with our user centric, sustainable, smart and interconnected solutions.”

Commenting on the collaboration with Steelcase, Deep Mehta, director, Antares, said, “We are delighted to partner with Steelcase, and believe this partnership will add immense value to build a cohesive workspace culture, supporting the entrepreneurial spirit of the city. Employee wellbeing and engagement are issues of growing importance to both of us, and we look forward to bring our collective expertise and solutions to address the emerging needs of Mumbai’s workforce.”

The new Steelcase showroom, located at Lower Parel in Mumbai, sprawls across 2,100 sq-ft and will house ancillary products by Steelcase and its partner brands. Safety and social distancing protocols will be adhered to strictly by everyone visiting the showroom. The partnership between Steelcase and Innovative Antares will facilitate a holistic approach to foster a higher level of employee engagement and enhance the company’s overall business in India.

The new dealer showroom developed in collaboration with Antares will help strengthen the partner brand portfolio of Steelcase in Mumbai. On the other hand, the existing company showroom will continue to offer a wide range of architecture, furniture and technology products and services designed and developed by Steelcase.
