LABxNeon Attic began as a fabrication studio in 2019, founded by Priya Ganesan and Rambha Seth, to experiment with unique materials, varied design techniques and craftsmanship. Swiftly inspired, they developed a line of lifestyle products out of the core understanding that blurring the lines between the disciplines of art and design holds immense possibilities for the decorative arts. The duo began to create unique furniture statements that meld functionality with artistry, designing handcrafted pieces that transform spaces. In doing so, they arrived at the concept of “furniture as high art”, pioneering a new category of art collectibles.
Whimsical, playful, inspired by their wanderlust and cumulative repository of memories from their travels and international experiences, the LABxNeon Attic collection makes a statement through every piece. Amidst the chaos of today’s world, the brand provides a sense of escapism through inventive storytelling, expressed by highly designed sculpted pieces which utilise innovative materials, explosively vibrant colours and elaborate prints. The product compilation includes an array of pieces such as coffee tables, side tables, consoles, poufs, rugs, tableware, decor accessories and illustrated art prints.
They have committed to working exclusively with local artisans in the production of their forthcoming collection, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic’s effect on India’s arts and crafts sector. The #LABMakesLocal initiative was begun during the current nationwide lockdown with the intention of helping to revive the arts and crafts sector, which has been rendered especially fragile due to the crisis.
