Having evolved across a diverse portfolio that encompasses Kinetic art, Functional art, Art bespoke, Architectural design, Interior design and Parametric designs , they have developed an interest in involving technology and innovation in their design efforts. The key focus is to create art works which renders unique experiences and evoke emotions. The following three examples of their artwork in the form of sustainable benches.
Trapeza
The basic design idea behind Trapeza was to create an interactive installation out of tulipwood that is built to be adapted by the users. The configurable twist of Trapeza allows endless possibilities for indoor as well as outdoor spaces. The bench, which is formed using a total of 17 modules, gives a seamless linear and non-linear seating option and allows for different placements and the efficient use of any space.
Each module of Trapeza is purely inspired by geometry and the form has been achieved by subtractive, additive as well as dimensional transformation of the basic solid trapezium. Even the tiniest twist in the solid trapezium can create a number of new possibilities and this leads to efficient use of space. Commercially, Trapeza is a right fit for universities and malls; it can be made in various colors and can be arranged in different shapes for public seating.
Material: Tulipwood (Stained)
Shard
As nature’s monumental sculpture, stone is the bedrock on which our world rests, a world where it is both artefact and indicator of civilisation. A result of our exploration into the wonders of the lithic realm, ‘shard’ is abstracted rock, built from faceted plywood. Through an arduous manufacturing and assembly process, that is one of the longest the studio has worked on, the multiple pieces, each with multiple angles, create a morphological bench that is cutting edge yet primordial.
Material: Plywood ( Eco friendly PU coated)
Bow Bench
The bench is inspired by the bow tie. It is an abstract representation through the dynamic form. The bench can accommodate up to 4 people. The extreme elevated ends allow the grand backrest and the low center backrest to form a delicate central mass. Even though the bench is made up of multiple layers, it is the most comfortable bench to sit. The Hydro green articulates the royalness of the form.
Material: Birch Ply ( Eco friendly PU coating)
Bullet Bean
The bullet bean has been realized as a dynamic fluid form that also functions as a seat or a bench. During our explorations, we went with materials that were manufactured by the layering of other materials. The idea of carving out from the material to reveal (and discover) the intricate and form emphasizing lines formed the essence and was by far the most exciting part of, the entire design process.
Mtaerial: Birch Ply (Clear natural Varnish coated).
