Tarkash is a centuries-old art by the skilled artisans from Rajastha, patronized by the erstwhile royalty of Jaipur. With the passage of time and no royalty to support these artisans, it has been dying a slow death. Committed to preserving traditional art forms, Orvi Home co-creates products from the Tarkashi Collection with a few surviving artisans. A perfect union of indigenous materiality with unique designs, translates to a curated range of elegant home pieces like platters, cake stands, accent tables, bowls, curios and vases, serving trays and wooden jars.
Imbued with the artistic soul of the artisans, each item is handmade using the finest quality, hand-polished Acecia wood in which delicate wires of metal brass are inlaid individually into deeply carved grooves, to create intricate curlicue motifs of flowers, often seen from a bygone era. The meticulous process involves drawing of the design on a piece of paper and then transferring it onto wood, where each detail of the pattern is hand-carved to create deep grooves. Flattened and gleaming metal wires are then inlaid into the grooves and hammered into position by hand. A true celebration of sustainability and artisanal living, the home pieces from the Tarkashi Collection make for an opulent addition in modern contemporary spaces. Constantly pushing the envelope for timeless aesthetics in living spaces, Orvi proves its prowess in craftsmanship yet again in this splendid assortment.
