Yearning for simpler times amidst the global pandemic with the cottagecore collection

The Studio Covers Cottagecore collection was born as a result of the reflection done during the pandemic. Staying in made everyone question the mindless externalisation of everything – including our homes.

The new-age trend “Cottagecore” was ironically enough born out of a digital age. An entire generation done with the constant pursuit of more – a retaliation to #hustleculture. This need to do more, see more, even be more, has culminated in an almost therapeutic call back to simple farm life. Back when picking berries, petting cows, and running into a field of thigh-high wheat stalks were the norm.

During the lockdowns, our homes became our safe haven – a place of reflection and peaceful existence rather than being another avenue where a statement needed to be made. This translated into a shift from shiny perfect spaces to ones that are warm, cosy, comfortable and comforting. And this is what cottagecore is all about – making homes comfortable. It is Victorian England meets your grandma’s sweater wrapped in the smell of freshly baked bread. It’s comforting, romantic and idyllic.

For the Founder and Designer of Studio Covers, Sonali Pathak, the collection emerges from her love for nature, Thoreau, slow living, and all things weathered-down and Shabby Chic. For Shrita Pathak, the Business Head, it is a rebellion against the constant bombardment of “content” and the picture-perfect lives that live on her social media feeds.

The Cottagecore collection by Studio Covers features Toile de Jouy covers, soft pastel throws, and lacey table runners. You will find a cream throw that seems to have jumped straight out of a Jane Austen novel or a hand-embroidered beaded cover made after painstaking hours of labour. The entire collection is a call to look within while we stay in.
