Bengaluru-based The Purple Turtles launches sustainable designer lamps

iGen 2019 Radeesh Shetty, who founded The Purple Turtles in 2009, believes in sustainable design – and it shows in his recent collection of handcrafted lamps

Designer Radeesh Shetty believes in taking one step at a time when it comes to being responsible towards the environment. His company, The Purple Turtles, has introduced a range of lighting options designed using sustainable materials for an eco-friendly option.

Inspired by nature and hand sculpted from handcrafted banana fibre paper, the ephemeral light fixtures are an ideal source for mood lighting in homes, hospitality spaces as well as the outdoors. Each piece of light is unique and available in varied shapes and designs. The premium collection includes – Canopy with Coco Flowers in banana papers, Coco Flower Pendant Lamp, Double Passion Flower, Meander Pendant Lamp, Oslo Table Lamp and many more. These designer lamps are available from Rs.5000 onwards, up to Rs.30,000.

The Purple Turtles is a premier store for lighting, home decor and accessories. The story of The Purple Turtles began almost a decade ago, at a time when lighting up interior spaces meant a choice between mass-produced light fixtures or inaccessible imported design. Founded in 2009 by Shetty along with his friend Gaurav Rai, The Purple Turtles offers lighting solutions, home decor accessories and more.

Shetty’s entrepreneurial journey began while shopping with a friend, who was decorating her new home. Over the years, The Purple Turtles has worked with big corporates like TCS, Wipro, Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Microsoft, and Informatics. In the last 10 years, The Purple Turtles has opened six stores across Bengaluru, Calicut, Mumbai and Chennai. They have worked on over 10,000 projects across the globe and served over 3,00,000 customers.

With their sixth store that was recently launched in HSR, Bengaluru, The Purple Turtles will soon extend their products and services range to a garden/outdoor-centric brand called Beruru and wall installations with Tilisme. The brand also plans to have an interior designing service to help people/designers choose home decor and lighting products for their projects or homes or offices, from the collections showcased by The Purple Turtles.
