A 3 BHK for a young family in Mumbai by Limehouse Design Studio

The charming and eclectic home exudes warmth, brimming with contrasts, variety, and most of all a unique and amiable personality

A bright, open and mirror clad lobby with floor and wall decor mark the entrance to the wonderful Nahar Residence. Located in Mumbai, the three-bedroom apartment is an abode to a young family of four. “When we started the design discussions for this project, the requirements that emerged were simple - to retain open spaces, amalgamate various design styles, use wood (a shared love), add a highlight feature and to experiment with something new. A client willing to move away from the ordinary and try out something new is all that is needed to get our creative juices flowing,” points out Tanushree Lakhotia, principal designer, Limehouse Design Studio.

The final design concept that ensued was a revelation - Limehouse developed each individual space to retain its own individual characteristic while also fusing it into the bigger holistic space. It helped craft a variety and maintain balance at the same time. The design philosophy and personality of this home hence, also reflects the young, warm and vibrant personalities of the owners.

The home includes a vast and captivating living area with a highlight bar done up in sleeper wood for those perfect parties; flowing into the living area where warm and cold colours (red and blue) create the perfect balance between contrasting elements and hues. A bright and chirpy kids room features floor-to-ceiling cabinets running across the length of the room with a customised paper plane motif wallpaper on the wall opposite it. The design concept for the master bedroom is a dreamy space comprising an exquisite black poster bed (that was refurbished), deep blue accents, light wood flooring and wall panelling.

What one absolutely cannot miss is the open kitchen with an island and integrated seating. It adds to the openness of the home without compromising on functionality. The matt finish painted interior doors also act as a reflection of those occupying the space behind it - yellow door for the bright and sunny kids room, red door for the bold and regal master bedroom and the blue exterior/entrance door signifying stability, openness and calmness.
