IIA announces dates for Natcon 2020
The Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) will hold its Natcon 2020 event – for the first time, virtually – from July 11-12
The ‘Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) Natcon 2020: Transcend’ is all set to take place on July 11-12. In light of the current pandemic, the IIA is hosting it as an online event using a multifaceted platform. The theme Transcend will focus on self-reliance and resilience in architecture with an inclusive approach to address an equitable built environment for all sections of the society and the lessons from the pandemic and the way forward.
IIA is the national body of architects with more than 25,000 active members. It plays a major role in promoting the profession of architects by organising and uniting the architects of India to promote aesthetic, scientific and practical efficiency of the profession both in practice and education. This year the sessions are constituted to surpass the boundaries of social inequality, inadequate habitat for the needy. Natcon will feature expert talks by internationally renowned architects and panel discussion on the range of topics that are related to the profession.
The first day’s programme will start with the inaugural ceremony followed by two sessions, while the second and final day’s programme will have two sessions followed by valedictory ceremony and entertainment programmes. The programme will have keynote addresses by celebrated architects from India and abroad. Each session will be held in virtual halls featuring various topics such as transcend, resilience, innovation, self reliance, inclusive and valedictory. Around 3,000 architects from all over the country will participate in the event.
IIA Natcon is the only national-level convention for architects organised by its own fraternity members’ organisation. Transcend will let us discuss and take collective steps from this quiescent period to rebuild an equitable and inclusive environment to serve the aspirations of all sections of society.
