Essentia Environments designs a 400 square yards residence in Delhi

The home exhibits both modernist charm and traditional flair at the same time

Founded in 1999, Essentia Environments has emerged to be a premier architecture design and build firm. Their projects reflect a modern yet timeless design aesthetic and the use of neutral hues complimented with vibrant art and décor. Founded by Hardesh and Monica Chawla, Essentia Environments has created a vast portfolio of residential and commercial projects in India, Dubai and Moscow.

This home in the heart of Delhi is a great example of the amalgamation of modern design and traditional touches. The stilt parking is decorated with patterned grass inlays and wood clad walls to create a warm and welcoming ambience as soon as one enters the door. The entrance lobby is furnished with accent chairs and an artificial tree. The intricate marble work on the floor gives a very plush look.

The drawing room is adorned with custom furniture by Essentia, designed and built in their in-house facility. The tufted sofas along with the accent chandelier on the corner give the room a traditional touch. The drawing room leads into the lush green balcony and features sliding doors to allow the room to open up for entertaining. The dining room features a custom table with quilted chairs, two chandeliers and marble inlays on the floor to give a royal touch.

The master bedroom uses a mix of wood and Statuario on the floor. The elongated headboard uses tufted fabric cladding. The play of different materials, patterns and finishes come together to create a homogenous and comfortable living space, which is a theme across the house. Other bedrooms are appointed with a similar theme keeping comfort in mind. Essentia’s signature spa-like bathrooms add a touch of opulence to the residence.

The home office keeps up with the theme of simplicity and functionality and features a custom work desk along with quilted leather accent chairs and a mini bookshelf. The terrace is a standout feature of this residence. Built for the purpose of entertaining and relaxing, the terrace features wood panelled walls, lush planters, comfortable seating, a bar counter and a dumbwaiter to bring up the deliciousness from the kitchen downstairs. This home is a perfect example how luxury does not have to come at the cost of comfort.
