Multidisciplinary studio Yakusha designed a family apartment in Kyiv with a focus on functional aesthetics and the balance of textures – soft panels on the walls, abundance of wood and marble, and brass accents.
The main challenge was to reconstruct the space. Original space featured lots of dark corners, and Yakusha wanted to let the air in. Multifunctional bedrooms were designed for both sleeping and socialising. Wardrobes, cabinets, and storage places are planned in detail. Comfort is the main word here.
Entering the apartment, guests enjoy a panoramic view of the living room fluently passing into a kitchen. The cooking space is visually clean, zones are functionally built in a wooden cabinet.
Three-meter high cabinets in the living room fade imperceptibly into walls. No slices are visible, as if it is a single sheet of paper. The author’s drawing parquet board on the floor turns into a marble. Walls are finished in matte decorative plaster with touch-pleased velour.
