Unfolding the motifs
As the lobby unfolds into a private space, a two-leaf white door finished in mouldings and antique brass handles sets the tone of the home. The wide lobby has a panelled wall with moulded arches and motif keystones. A glazed arch opening creates a visual connect with the patio on the other side.
A European style entry
A solo white European chair and a coffee table with an ornamental lamp leads you to a passage flanked by a console in powder blue and gold elements complete with a wall hung mirror. The 8-seater dining table in the same finish as the console with an ornamental French chandelier stands out against the grey toned walls and white doors leading to other rooms.
Living the dream
The Living room extends into a wide passage with a glazed fixed glass window on the left side creating a visual connect with the outdoor space and letting in daylight for this dark passage. The deck on this side has a full-fledged jacuzzi and seating in raw black stone with cushions. The Buddha bamboo plants while adding an element of green to this grey and white space also acts as a visual barrier.
Dining with an obscure dissection
The dining space acts as an obscure separation for the home creating two sections. The space beyond the living room has the bedrooms and private deck and to the right side are the media room, games room, kitchen and guest room. The media and games room are created by converting a bedroom using civil intervention since this is a nuclear family of three.
Opening the layout
With an open layout the living and dining spaces flow freely into each other lending an expansive and grand character to these spaces. The living room opens into a quaint patio with mutely printed floor tiles and a raw teak wood swing finished in wicker. The natural foliage complete with a beautiful traveller’s palm, Frangipani and Bougainvillea create a private garden on the 6th floor for the home owners. Being socially active, this entire space with the Living and dining spaces doubles up as the perfect set up to host parties for near and dear ones. The entire colour palette for this space is restricted to white, beige, grey and muted blue. An elemental Chaise Lounge in midnight blue strikes the balancing chord along with a grey sofa set and a wooden centre and coffee tables retaining the same gold leaf elements. The chandelier in this space being lowly hung is an eye catcher and cuts the linearity of the space.
Minimal is the tone
The media room extending into the games room to the right side of the dining is an informal space with cement floor tiles in yellow white and grey by Bharat. Flooring adding a pop of colour to the greys and whites. The entire home has minimal wooden elements, just enough to add a little warmth and offset to the grey and whites. The Media room has a reclining sofa set balancing against a wainscoted wall panel displaying Audrey Hepburn Art work.
Focussing on the play
The focal point of the games room is a red wing back chair set against a brick clad wall with a hanging book shelf resembling the bridge. A dart board, boxing stand, foosball table and board games set a playful tune in this room. The kitchen adjacent to the dining space is a typical European enclosure in white panels with mouldings and cornices and an island counter to complete the entire set up. A glazed panel door leads to the store and utility rooms. The space straight up beyond the dining is the powder toilet with a basin console against clad in marble mosaic with a venetian mirror and white door with mouldings and floral motifs.
Embracing the neutral and basic
The guest bedroom to the left of this space is the smallest of all and it has been deliberately kept minimal with a gold leaf panel and cushioned bed against a neutral metallic motif wallpaper. A full panel back painted fluted glass door leads to the bathroom which is clad in a classic sofito gold marble and compact vanity counter to create a sense of space keeping the colour palette neutral and basic.
That’s how the French do it!
The deck is an extension of the master bedroom separated by a series of French doors. The master bedroom is an elegant space with a king size bed and a royal bed back with circular hand painted nightstands. The entire furniture in this space as well as the walk-in closet spells of beige and gold. The master bathroom in black portoro marble with a twin basin vanity counter and a spacious shower closet.
A room for the kid
The right-side door leads to the son’s bedroom. Being a 12-year old’s bedroom, this space retains the white element for a four-poster bed, a study unit facing the outdoors and sliding panel wardrobe doors. The space is covered in white grey and blue with a pop of red. Wooden flooring and blinds adds warmth to this space. The bathroom of this space is an extension to this bedroom with similar elements in grey marble and red sanitary fixtures.
The entire home is resplendent in a classic white and grey colour palette with hints of gold adding an element of luxury to the spaces.
