Overlooking the greens
As a young couple, they love to host parties so the layout was turned into an open kitchen which helps to double up the living space. The flat also has a private terrace where it overlooks the greenery of Matunga which is a rare sight in Mumbai nowadays.
Drawing eyes to the outside
Upon entering the living room, the eyes are immediately drawn towards the large full-length window and the view beyond, the team didn’t want to distract from that. They wanted people coming in to have that experience first. So, the material palette was kept very neutral. The greens in the living room are soft pastels—as seen on the couch and the artwork. The rug, custom-designed for the project, ties in the tones of the living room, and underlines a set of curved coffee tables, also custom-made.
Opening up the kitchen
As it is an open kitchen the granite was to be the hero of the room. The granite colour also continued with the same neutral palette. The cabinets with white glass panels and wooden accents ensured it feels open. The Bar stools were customised to go with the decor but also stand out subtly.
Monolithic bedroom
As the bedroom size was small the head board and the bedside table were designed as a monolith to avoid too many elements. The opposite wall is cladded with wooden panelling to make the room feel both spacious and cosy at the same time it also has a hidden toilet door.
Unwinding after a long day
The private terrace was the extension for the living room from morning tea to open to sky dinners. And of course, from late night parties to some amazing Chai pe Charcha.
