Jaquar Group’s manufacturing unit in Bhiwadi gets Platinum LEED rating

The sanitaryware and lighting solutions brand receives the coveted green building certification

Jaquar Group achieves greater heights in sustainable manufacturing as their largest manufacturing unit in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, is conferred the ‘Platinum’ Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Certification by the US Green Building Council (USGBC).

Designed by Gayathri & Namith Architects, the unit is spread across 35,000sq-m. Green technology is the guiding force behind the functioning of the plant, which successfully manufactures 1,25,000 faucets and generates 5.4MW of solar energy every day. Adhering to global quality certification, the Jaquar Group manufacturing facilities are zero-waste plants, recycling 1,50,000 litres of water daily and 1,200 tonnes of brass annually.

On receiving the prestigious certification, Rajesh Mehra, director and promoter of Jaquar Group said, “It is a mark of great honour for Jaquar Group to receive the Platinum LEED certification by the USGBC, the highest mark of quality and efficiency for a green building. This is the second LEED certification received by the Group and, therefore, reiterates our strong commitment to sustainability.”

Of the different criteria listed by the USGBC, the Jaquar Group factory successfully achieved 21 out of the 26 sustainability factors, including all 10 water efficacy factors, 31 out of the 35 energy and atmosphere effectiveness, all 6 innovation measures, all 4 regional priority credits and 3 out of 15 indoor environmental quality standards.

The USGBC is a private, membership-based non-profit organisation that promotes sustainability in building design, construction and operation. It is best known for its development of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) green building rating systems and its annual Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, the world’s largest conference and expo dedicated to green construction. USGBC was one of eight national councils that helped found the World Green Building Council (World GBC).

Through its partnership with the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), USGBC offers a suite of LEED professional credentials that denote expertise in the field of green building. USGBC incentivises LEED certification by awarding extra certification points to building projects completed with a LEED- certified professional on staff.
