The Southwinds Clubhouse, Kolkata came into existence as the team inferred that group housing is prevalent throughout cities and sought after by the growing nuclear families. And what makes these communities most attractive are the clubhouse and community spaces where inhabitants can be a part of a neighbourhood which is holistic. At The Southwinds Clubhouse, the swimming pool lies at the heart of the plan, tying everything together with the immediate spaces looking out on to it.
On entering the space, one sees the chic circular stringed staircase with metallic lights, giving the reception area a grand focal display piece. The clubhouse has recreational rooms to cater to patrons from all walks of life – such as a library for bibliophiles, gym for the fitness enthusiasts, play room and card room for recreation.
Minute details have been embraced – such as children’s play room shelves which are only 3ft tall, low seating sofas for comfort, and a separate pool for children. Vibrant colours are used in the play area, with minimal furniture and open planning for children to move about freely. The overall interiors have been kept raw and exposed to keep the earthen look as inspired from the traditional clubs meant for residents to get together.
Clubhouses are meant to celebrate festivals and indulge in hobbies for the family as whole. In today’s crowded cities, these spaces hold an important position for a family to engage in activities together.
Group DCA has portrayed ingenuity and originality in architectural and interior design in the hospitality sector. This clubhouse reflects their core values – Dream, Design, Discover, Deliver – with a focused approach in enhancing the community spirit.
The library has a very cosy environment with the use of wood dominating the space in the book shelves, flooring and furniture. The ambient lighting adds to the effect and curates a good reading spot. A well-equipped gymnasium, letting in maximum daylight and a refreshing view towards the pool makes it the ideal place for kick-starting your day. The design implementation by group DCA has helped integrate different spaces into a single thread for an absolute experience.
