#AIExclusive: Devi Bhavan- A fusion of traditional accents with a side of glam.

Devi Bhavan, a six-bedroom residence designed by Fine Line Designers, is situated on Mumbai's upscale Nepean Sea Road and offers magnificent views of the sea.

The house is a contemporary blend with Indian traditional features and a touch of glitz. Because the location is in an old building, the structural beams create a play of volumes and heights. This enabled the use of ambient lighting in deck areas, which was incorporated inside unique conventional panels.

Famous painters like M. F. Hussain, Baiju Parthan, Valay Shinde, Himat Shah, and others are present throughout the home. Other collectables have been obtained from Dubai and the Salon De Mobile in Paris. The furniture was chosen from a variety of manufacturers, including Minotti, Poltrona Frau, Crate and Barrell, and local labels such as Sarita Handa. Decorative lights from Baccarat, Taherallys and the Paris exhibition have been curated.

The bedrooms reflect the demands of the girls and the young couple who live on the property. The colour emerald green is used in the master bedroom, with a natural palette of beige, brown, and white as a splash. The large master bathroom allowed for a walk-in closet and a dresser. In order to provide the girls with the freedom to express themselves in whatever colours they chose in the future, their bedrooms were both painted white.

The eldest daughter’s bedroom features a white-washed brick wall cladding behind the colourful four-poster bed, many display cabinets for books and vibrant artefacts, a study desk with storage and additional seating for sleepovers with her friends. Her walk-in closet and bureau are housed in the connected bathroom, which is done in grey marble, and a beautiful lamp shade is formed from several more lamp shades in black and white.

The younger daughter’s bedroom is themed on butterflies, dreams, and her favourite colour, blue. As you go in, you’ll see a study desk with sufficient storage for a student her age, followed by a sliding shuttered closet. The blinds are made of jute cloth with lovely white butterflies printed on them. A TV unit with a pop-up fitting allows the TV to be present only when necessary and is located opposite the bed, coupled with a modern-day ‘dreamcatcher’ sculpture acquired in Paris.

The powder room’s Sicis-emphasized flooring adds just the perfect bit of glitz with the mellow cream-ish beige marble, gold pedestal sink, and antique bone-carved mirror frame. The guest bedroom is created primarily for the regular card games played at home, merging the couple’s preferences and needs in perfect harmony. Additional storage space is concealed behind the block print-inspired hand-painted wardrobe, large TV unit with display niches, the wine cooler, the retro floor light fashioned from helicopter components, and the Roger Federer commissioned picture.

The fusion of communal spaces is the house’s main attention grabber. When all of the sliding shutters and windows are open, one may effortlessly wander across the living, bar, dining, TV room, gym, and enormous patio.
