#AIExclusive:  This Adyar-based café is steeped in vintage Parisian ideologies.

Amelie's Cafe and Creamery covers a convivial pastel palette of 1870 sq ft in the heart of Adyar with the intention of being perceived as a posh and contemporary space.

The design sensibilities of the café and creamery are a modern take on a Parisian 90s concept. The project’s trendy theme was rooted in the brand’s quaint ideology, with hints of vintage style added to the space to create an overall charming and engaging interior echoing the playfulness of their desserts and the happiness of their customers.

A grey picket fence welcomes you into the space, which is surrounded by greenery that leads to the creamery. The cheery and refreshing exterior is indicative of the area within, designed with the voguish philosophies that characterise the brand in mind. The project’s unobtrusive branding, combined with various geometric forms and understated colours, leaves flecks of European style in its wake, shows the brand’s youth and underlines its target audience.

The creamery area features a colourful flooring design and a semi-open dining area. The entrance of the café is defined by an elevation of arch doors with an ice cream seat painted in the famed Amelie’s green, providing an experience of going to the ice cream booth area. With snug corners and Instagram-worthy areas, the incorporation of sophisticated details influenced by their sorbets and gelatos results in an engaging environment reaching out to millennials and people alike.

It changes into a pleasant creamery when surrounded by linear metal rods amid flora. Glass barriers with minimum embellishments span the breadth of the area, impeding the modest décor and lending a feeling of gentle beauty and nostalgic joy through filtered sunshine. This design was inspired by the desire to encourage people to work and speak over a cup of ice cream beneath the sun’s warmth.

Tall glass walls were employed to accentuate the visual connection to nature to become a breath of fresh air as an extension to extend the scale of the café. The classic wainscoting, Victorian dresser, and vintage bicycle provide focus points throughout the area, which, together with the timeless frames and high ceilings, contribute to the space’s attraction.

The café’s walls are adorned with the elegance of European design combined with the beauty of old components, with rustic furnishings contributing to the charm and creativity of the place—an arcadian wall with features and distinctive aspects resembling Parisian streets.

With visual transparency at its core, the booth sitting area exudes a comfortable atmosphere while being connected to the rest of the café via ageless pages of a novel and characteristics of Parisian style.

The white brick wall adds a feeling of contrast to the otherwise vibrant palette, while pendant lighting and frames lend character to the area. Overall, the enchanting and fascinating interiors reflect the brand’s self-described whimsical nature.
