The overarching theme of this home revolves around striking a delicate balance between creating a haven of comfort, and harmony while ensuring the flow of endless conversations and family gatherings amidst ample sunlight and a panoramic view of the DLF Golf Course.
Hues that hypnotize
Kohelika Kohli seamlessly integrates the personality of the space with the users’ persona to imbue an amicable association. The brief for this sprawling 8,550 sq ft apartment, perched on the 17th floor, was luxury but understated, comfort but not extravagance, contemporary yet timeless. The multigenerational home with grandparents comprises four bedrooms, one living and dining room, one study, a TV lounge, and a kitchen.
A dramatic prelude, an artistically framed wall mirror hypnotizes with its magnitude standing next to a wooden console surmounted by vibrant art at the entrance. Exquisitely crafted wood-ribbed double door, embellished with a long cast brass handle, welcomes through to an intriguing geometric black and white console in pietra dura on which two handsome equine heads are displayed. A pink armoire is accosted by a beauteous temple door crafted by artists in Jaipur.
Eclectic accents
Parallel to the temple, a voluminous sliding glass door takes you to an oasis of luxury, the living and dining room with a bar station. Pristine white juxtaposed with moody browns reigns across this resplendent room with clean-lined contemporary furniture, an eclectic blend of accents, and colossal windows with an expansive verdant view, bathing the space with natural light and fresh air. A custom-designed glass-topped dining table sits across impressive fenestrations to host family and friends with a view. The star of the room is the bar, fluted wood flirting with bronze tones, complemented with paneled walls and mirrors, an invitation of endless conversations amidst clinks of glass.
Captivating cozy luxury
The large modern kitchen serves as a palette cleanser in white and black, with all the mod cons and a dining station for informal meals. Each bedroom makes a tonal connection with pastel hues of grey, beige, and green, arresting hanging lights that gleam in gold finishes, imposing artworks, and mirrors captivated by the fresh light and air streaming through the wall-size windows.
Monumental bookshelves in the study amidst earthy paneling and flooring are in a contemplative mode. The primary bathroom continues the tranquillity of muted hues anchored by bronze hardware as does the powder room where an intriguing hanging light keeps you enraptured. Curvaceous ivory sofas sit captivated by the lush foliage and the skyline. A luxurious balcony is an invitation for cozy sit-outs.
“Maintaining the storyline of understated luxury and functionality imbued with an elegance that harmoniously integrates with the inhabitants’ aspirations was the main driving force.
While designing, fabricating, and collating art and artifacts for the entire apartment was an enthralling experience in itself, getting the bar ready for the perfect mixology with my bartender diploma from the US was gratifying”, says Kohelika Kohli, Co-Founder, and Creative Director at K2India.
