Marvel at the 6,000 sq ft modern landmark bungalow in Chennai

N27 is an expansive 6,000 sq ft bungalow situated in one of Chennai’s most bustling districts, reimagined to embody the pinnacle of luxury.

The project revolves around the innovative use of marble, chosen for its timeless appeal and strength. This material anchors the design, providing a sense of solidity and permanence while being intricately detailed to showcase its versatility in contemporary applications.

Fluid transitions

The core design philosophy for N27 was to juxtapose the inherent rigidity of natural stone with modern, intricate detailing. This approach allows the marble to transcend its traditional uses, becoming a central theme that balances solidity with sophistication. Each marble element, from flooring to countertops, is meticulously crafted to add a touch of elegance and modernity to the bungalow’s overall aesthetic.

Space planning in N27 is characterised by its fluidity, achieved through a carefully curated colour scheme that adds vibrancy and dynamism to the interiors. This colour palette breaks the potential monotony of marble, infusing each room with a sense of warmth and liveliness. The design aims to create a harmonious blend of lightness and sturdiness, making each space feel both airy and grounded.

Wood, a material celebrated for its natural beauty and resilience, plays a significant role in the design. To honor its intrinsic qualities, wood is not combined with any other materials. This respect for the materiality ensures that the wood elements stand out, contributing to the bungalow’s refined aesthetic without overpowering the marble features.

Bathed in brightness

One of the primary challenges of the N27 project was its location. Despite being situated in a prime residential area, the plot was enclosed by walls on three sides, limiting natural light and ventilation. To address this, significant civil interventions were undertaken. The deep, north-facing site initially allowed for indirect lighting throughout the day, but it was insufficient to illuminate the entire house adequately. The solution involved breaking down the south walls and incorporating balconies to usher in natural light and promote cross ventilation.

These architectural modifications transformed the living spaces, flooding them with sunlight and fresh air. The new balconies not only enhance the home’s aesthetic appeal but also serve functional purposes, creating seamless indoor-outdoor transitions that enhance the residents’ quality of life. These interventions ensure that every corner of the bungalow is bathed in natural light, creating a bright and welcoming environment.

Between comfort and opulence

The elegance of N27 is further accentuated by its detailed finishes, colour schemes, and material choices. Every element is carefully selected and crafted to contribute to the overall sense of luxury. The bungalow’s interiors are a testament to the meticulous attention to detail, with each space designed to offer both comfort and opulence.

In conclusion, the N27 bungalow is a masterclass in redefining luxury through thoughtful design and innovative use of materials. By blending the timeless appeal of marble with modern detailing, respecting the natural beauty of wood, and making strategic architectural changes to enhance light and ventilation, the project successfully creates a sophisticated, elegant home.

N27 stands as a remarkable example of contemporary luxury living, perfectly adapted to its urban surroundings while offering a serene and luxurious retreat for its residents.
