The Walnut House, located in one of the prime areas of the Western Suburbs, hints fine aesthetics and ambience. Minimal materials and requisite decor wrap the house in a multi-sensory experience reverberating to the user’s comfort.
Matt and monotone
The evident and pervasive living space gently whispers to the open kitchen layout, enabling connectivity yet distancing it from the occupant. Formal seating and dining arrangement adorns itself with a sash of fine linen upholstery and embroidered cushions. Rugs, greens and accent lights further embellishes the space and adds to the visual layering. The monotone kitchen is finished in an unrivalled matt acrylic, keeping it bright and neutral. Use of Calcutta gold quartz as a countertop further soothes the assembly enabling the glass display shelves to outstand.
Rustic details
Moving further down the passage are the 3 bedrooms which are designed keeping in mind the user requirements and brief. Son’s bedroom enlivens the senses with its intense smoked wood flooring paired with taupe walls and tall shuttered wardrobes. The gun-metal finished stainless steel rims of the headboard and side tables shows it prominence over the rustic finished headboard wall. Whereas, the black chest of drawers provides great utility while retaining a striking aesthetic with the incredible CNC craved fluted detail.
Elaborate entertainment
The master bedroom is effectuated using neutral tones combined with stained veneer to provide a calm, cozy foundation. The wardrobe niche has been technically placed at the corner to provide maximum functionality yet creating a small display nook in the room. Eschewing the formalities is typically a good practice for TV room designs. Elaborating the T.V room to accommodate occasional guests was one of the criteria’s for designing the space. A monochrome wall behind the sofa accommodates a built-in Murphy bed in the center, further dividing the space for a study and larger expanse of books and accents on the sides. Wooden flooring, dark grey walls and Aegean blue Sofa creates a perfect setting to unwind.
The space is a perfect amalgamation of functional planning and soothing ode with its use of subtle texture and earthy hues.
