This abode, crafted for a family of four with a growing generational gap, reflects the clients’ personalities: spiritual and calm, creatively vibrant, a modern millennium, and an artistic genZ. Having the benefit of creative freedom, the designers used a diverse range of materials, textures, fun & flamboyant surfaces, and furnishings that direct the eye throughout the house tour.
Secluded from the hive of activity in the metropolitan city, nestling on the 27th floor of a high-rise condominium, is a 1070 square-feet 3BHK apartment with panoramic views of lush green hills and the townscape of Mulund West, Mumbai.
Something for everyone
The design brief was to harmoniously combine the various design requirements of individuals with growing generational gap. At the same time, the home design was supposed to be serene, modern, and aesthetically pleasing. Understanding their requirements, we designed a home that elevated their lifestyle and added modifications we believed they would need with time.
The site being a standard builder-finished apartment, the rooms were delightfully spacious. There was, therefore, no need for extensive civil involvement in the revision process.
The light-filled living room oozes a sense of calmness & a metallic tone for elegance. This abode is a serene space to bask in after a long day at work with a warm cup of tea and the changing colors of the sky at sunset visible from full length French windows. The white walls with the moulding and golden accents serve as the backdrop to the design, allowing various tactile materials in the space to protrude & create harmony.
The smoked gray mirror panel creates a visual expansion of the dining corner. The bespoke dining table is polished travertine marble with soft edges blending with the tufted burgundy bench & chairs with a tree branch chandelier.
The living and dining areas of the house are the center of family gatherings, encouraging conversation and giving the space a sense of openness and transparency.
Fusion of functions
Curated from natural materials like teakwood, veneer, pink onyx, marble & mother of pearl, this home mandir is a whisk of traditional & modern aesthetics. A frosted fluting glass divider provides a separate zone of tranquility to the mandir, which is full of divine energy.
The kitchen is the ideal fusion of aesthetics and functionality. The glossy mint blue hue adds a layer of mellow freshness, creating a pleasant contrast with the black granite top. The echoic motifs of the white & black backsplash tiles add a layer of imprint to the visual, and the wooden & fluted glass cabinets add a layer of texture.
Room for two
A caged pendant light in the center of the tall off-white arches creates a nook towards the rust-red velvet headboard with a hint of green, radiating a minimalistic bohemian style in the younger daughter’s bedroom.
The extensive use of terrazzo creates a calming atmosphere, and the space is elevated visually and given significance by the clean lines in the elder daughter’s bedroom. With a concrete pendant light and a natural rattan-covered wardrobe shutter encased in glass with a precise white groove calling attention. Study table with natural light coming in and embracing the oak wood & gray storage, facing the picturesque perspective.
Bold and energetic, this opulent master bedroom is immersed in a plush theme with oak wood wall panels and white statuario wall cladding. PU-finished wardrobes with customized extended teakwood handles and elegant golden accents
Lively and homely
The furniture chosen is custom crafted with vibrant and contemporary elements that evoke a lively and energetic atmosphere and is made in-house.
The house’s material palette directs the eye through a diverse range of visual stimuli produced by the meticulous use of different textures and materials. Fun and flamboyant surfaces and furnishings in shades of blue, maroon, green, and burnt orange are balanced by light wood and neutral marble.
This suburban Mumbai apartment is designed to ease its residents’ transition to a more luxurious lifestyle filled with joyous laughter, tranquil workspace and a sense of grandeur.
