Highly inspired from Victorian homes & bars – ornate detailing, plush furnishing and a warm colour palette makes this resto-bar drip with opulence. The client reached out with a concept of creating a Victorian themed lounge & diner in the heart of city Jaipur. Their requirements were very specific on making it into a sophisticated and plush lounge.
A plush palette
Notion consists of two floors, the covered 2,000 sq ft diner & 1,200 sq ft of rooftop lounge. Restricting the existing guest entrance of the rooftop, and building a curved bold red staircase connects both the floors. Kitchen and services consists of 800 sq ft of the area. The site was originally a set of 3 showrooms with less openings, being a commercial builder floor converting it into an aesthetically pleasing venue was a challenge. The clear height of the space post the ceiling was minimal, to overcome this whites were used for the ceilings and floor too. Different levels of the ceiling get maximum heights wherever feasible. In the center of the diner a mirror ceiling makes it look elongated.
Vividly Victorian
The principal elements include the intricate cornice, wall beadings and delicate ceiling details along with a deep tropical wallpaper for the walls as one of the key elements of Victorian style. Main element of the diner is the deep gorgeous green color, being the favourite color of the old English homes & diners it brings drama to the space. The furnishing with deep purple, plush pink and floral prints complements the space even more.
Refreshing focus
The deep red staircase is a highlight element which breaks the monotony of straight decoated lines with its curve nature – a refreshingly modern sight. It connects both the floors and is adorned with large windows, ceiling wallpaper inspired from Victorian era paintings, and a delicate crystal chandelier. It surely is the showstopper of the project. The DJ Console replicates traditional fireplaces in English home is another design focal point.
The USP of this project is its design style, being first of this kind it stands out and give the guest a feel of luxury and richness of the bygone era. With this restaurant, the designers have tried to bring Bridgerton vibes to Jaipur.
