A new gym designed Delhi-based interior designer and stylist Sanjyt Syngh, who is known for his bold and creative ideas, will prompt one to wake up every morning and head for a workout regime. “That’s the intention of good interiors, isn’t it? To keep us inspired and looking forward to the future with new hope and vigour!” shares the designer.
The gym, whether a private one, or a public, is an essential part of modern lifestyle. A space where one can de-stress and strive for fitness, health and happiness. It’s interiors have a deep impact on the mind and performance. Sanjyt Singh made sure the gym interiors activate ones adrenaline as soon as they enter it. He imagines them as spaces that exude positivity, energy and motivation. Vital colours like red, green and blue are extensively used to charge the atmosphere with a to-do attitude. With an intention to add a new dimension to the space, the design elements are taken to the ceiling which unfolds like a large canvas.
Neatly laidout athletic tracks in a red-and-white colour scheme; a green grass tennis court; sports gear in red adorn the ceiling – each element filling the air with the energy of a sports field. “The gym was derived from the streets of New York. The streetscape of New York is constantly evolving and always under construction. The inspiration came from the industrial character of Brooklyn, just about when it started to gentrify. As you walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn over any of the bridges, you see the reflection of the cityscape in the water, which just opens a whole new dimension and that is what inspired the treatment of ceilings. It also helped us avoid taking floor space for design elements,” says the designer.
So you have a gym that does its job well. To motivate and keep one all charged up!
